The Frankel III Appliance is used in the treatment of skeletal Class III malocclusions during the early mixed dentition stage, which has maxillary skeletal retrusion with no mandibular prognathism.To stimulate the maxillary development, the lip pads and vestibular shields will prevent buccinator and orbicularis oris muscles to effect on maxillary development.
